The Heron and the Wildlife Warrior

Our 10 foot tall Heron puppet and its environmentally concerned friend visited 5 different town centres across the Wakefield district during Summer 2021. Ossett, Normanton, Pontefract, Castleford and South Elmsall all received visits from the dynamic duo, gathering pledges from the community for ways that they can encourage wildlife and develop greater bio-diversity in their local area. Our environmentalist captured people’s pledges in the “big book of bio-diverse ideas” as part of each performance, which has become a record of the project and a call to action for communities across Wakefield. Funded as part of Wakefield Festival of the Earth 2021.
