The Magic Paintbrush

In October 2025, as part of WordFest 25, Edgelands were invited to revive their 2023 production of The Magic Paintbrush for family audiences in 11 libraries and community venues across the District. Directed by Bev Adams for Edgelands, artists Matt Rogers, Tracy Lau and Charlie Wells performed the renewed piece for 246 children from 0 to 11 and their grown-ups in 23 performances over 2 weeks in October. The Magic Paintbrush is a based on a Chinese folk tale and combines shadow puppetry, music and live action to tell a story about helping others and having the courage to do the right thing under pressure.
